And frankly that bar is pretty low. From the moment we arrived it was a disaster. There was a handwritten sign in the window that said "No Vacancy". We had paid in advance so we knocked. They ignored us. They eventually answered us because we wouldn't leave. We couldn't hear them through the glass, but they would not or could not speak up. Then they told us to go away. They'd given our room away. When my husband and I repeated that we'd paid in advance, a man came from another room and easily found our reservation card. Hmm. When we checked in we were given a room key and a TV remote. As we opened the door to our room a nasty odor wafted out. The room was old and crummy, but I will say it was clean. Very clean. And given how gross the room was it was comforting that there was a mopable surface instead of carpet. As you would expect the fan was loud, but it worked. There was no closet, but a bar was available to hang up our clothes. We could not get on the Internet and we were not about to go talk to the manager again. My husband wished he could have climbed into a big plastic bag and gone to sleep. A freeway underpass and a pop tent would be preferable. This is your last resort.
